WASHINGTON, NC. – The Expanse Project, today announced the launch of Expanse [EXP], a decentralized application platform based off of Ethereum. It is unique in that is designed to allow more efficient mining, enabling Dapp developers to create more powerful applications, and it is community-managed. Expanse is the second Ethereum fork to date.
In the world of crypto currency, Bitcoin led the way with its open-source, peer-to-peer nature, cryptographically-stored records (blockchain), and a limited number of tokens that power the use of its features. In the last years dozens of applications are adopting the Bitcoin model in order to succeed. Ethereum is one of those “decentralized applications” that use a variety of methods to operate and it uses its own blockchain.
“We based Expanse on Ethereum because we believe the technology is so innovative and with great potential, and because we want to experiment with different open source ideas using it,” said Christopher Franko, Expanse Lead Developer.
Through the use of smart contracts and decentralized blockchain technology, Expanse is run not by any one individual or group, but by the users themselves.
“The project is organized, managed, and operated through a decentralized organization leveraging direct influence over the platform and its future to those that matter most: our community,” said James Clayton, Expanse Community Manager. “New features, integration, and core modifications of the Expanse platform and organization can be nominated, voted on, and implemented according to the collective opinion.”
After the launch of Expanse, Bleutrade quickly added it onto their exchange, and it moved up to the number one spot with strong buy support. The next day, Bittrex also added Expanse, followed by Cryptsy and Poloniex.
“We very much believe in cooperation, open source projects, and value of the technology provided by the Ethereum platform. If you are curious about Expanse, please check it out,” said Franko. Frank is also the owner and founder of Franko Corporation, which launched Franko Coin [FRK] in 2012.
